Saturday off ...

I'm taking the day off, but as to not leave you empty handed, here's a vid with the fastest "draw from concealment" you've ever seen:

Guns at work ...

There's been some devellopment in the Henderson workplace shooting that left six people dead.
The shooter did not have a gun with him that day, know that and remember it.

He had an arguement with his supervisor before going home and returning half an hour later with a hi point .45 handgun. He used this gun to shoot and kill six people, reloading in the proces*.
Some of his victims were caught off guard and "executed", others tried to run. Some of the runners made it, others were gunned down.

None of these people fought back, most of them died ... seriously, if this ever happens to you, at least hurl a chair at the guy to cover your retreat (and the retreat of others).

I support the right of people to keep a gun in their car as if it were their home, I also support the right of people in posession of the required licences to carry a firearm on their person where the owner of the premises allows for it. I don't know if the owners of the plant would have allowed CCW, but if they had, this might have been an entirely different post alltogether.

*Let this, in addition to the Virgiania tech shooting serve as proof that spree killers have no probem reloading their weapons of small capacity.

Another church shooting

Steady habits are an assasins bread and butter, his targets habits that is.
Going jogging along the exact same remote route every monday, making the same car trip to a relative every week, or even frequenting a certain church.

When a California man decided to try and kill a former girlfriend of his, he attacked her at church.
No Jeanne Assam this time however, one fatality, two injured, one of which seriously, and the attacker lived.

Said attacker was tackled by the surviving crowd when he was reloading ... a case for the banning of standard capacity firearms, or a case for CCW? Suppose we'd restrict magazine capacity to 10 rounds ... would an average card carrier be able to take action before an attacker has placed ten aimed shots? One armed person in Colorado hesitated for quite some time, rather than opening fire ... too careful? Reluctant? If anything, that armed civillian did not kill any innocents.

Definitely a case for plainclothes security guards ... they'd hardly stand out amongst regular churchgoers and have been proven effective. Generalised right to CCW in church? Well, I seriously doubt that the churchgoing crowd is very prone to violent outbursts ... could be wrong, but I doubt that.

Even in that Colorado megachurch, people excersised enough restraint to not cause any additional casualties when they took their gunman down. It could work! Could it be harmfull? Not likely,

Florida passes gun bill.

Bill ... law, whathever ...

This Law would allow a person to lock a firearm in his car when parked on his/her employers premises.
Rather than giving the pro-gun movement a downright victory, the now altered law requires a person to have a concealed weapons permit before being allowed to store ones property in ones car.

This surely will prevent criminals and disgrunteled employees with a restraining order from shooting up a workplace!

Okay, so what does it do? Since companies can't just search ones car, I doubt a lot of people are even going to be known to carry a firearm in their car. Just another unenforceable law on the books? Mind no clutter I suppose ...

CCW aplications up 49% in Denver

Article here

It would appear that the shootings at the von Maur mall, the house of worship shootout cut short by Assam and the NIU shooting have promted nearly 9300 (it's over nine thousand!) people to apply for a permit that allows them to carry a concealed handgun.

Opinions on the matter differ greatly, as does the explaination. Either way, this side of the fence is getting more crowded every day!

Sebastian on the news.

You've read his blog, heard him on cam&Co perhaos, now you can see Sebastian from pro-gun progressive speak up and explain his case on television footage.

It should be broadcasted a bit harder in my opinion: reporting crime, doing the right thing and beng a good witnedd is "bringing trouble upon youself" by certain government employees. If you don't know why us gun-rights activists strive for liberal concealed carry laws, please take your time to read the story of this man who has invested a lot of his time in trying to clean up his neighbourhood, and was rewarded by vandalised property, death threats and people in a post of power telling him "tough luck".

If you don't believe CCW can work, please read about Labidous story, and how it all turned out.

The Carry of a Concealed Weapon can save lifes, and can increase the safety of an entire neighbourhood. It's not a magical ward against criminal activity, but it's stopped more crime than gun free zones have.

Guns on KETV

Ketv just ran a story about Nebraskas concealed carry law and gun free zones.

They spend a lot of space on a local gun rights proponent who teaches people firearm safety, and who criticises the complexity of the gun law, which changes upon crossing city limits amongst others.

They also published what we've long posted about gun free zones:

  • "When you post an area and say that it's a gun free zone, what in fact you're doing is making a victim-zone, "Gun Free Zones" give criminals an unfair advantage."It does give the bad guy free reign that the building is secure, that they are not going to be challenged by anyone inside,"

It's refreshing to see a news station give the world our view on the story, and top it off with encouraging people to read into gun free zones, learing about their flaws, or learning how to start their own if they dislike the idea of guns on their property.

Labidou is off the hook.

What do you mean who? Labidou, the real life equivalent of Oleg Volks "Gun control is racist" posters found on his site.

Let me refresh your memory:
(My post concerning the entire event)
He wasn't harming anybody, sitting in his car driving to wherever he was going, when two white men approached his vehicle, one armed with a blunt object. They shouted profanities and racial slurs, threathened with violence and attempted to drag him from his vehicle.
Labidou shot his attackers, one of which died a few days later.

The Florida sun sentinel now reports that no murder charges will be filed against this man. There simply is no factual reason to charge him with such criminal offence.
He acted in slef defence, and is let off the hook.

When confronted with people who are not rational, with whom you cannot reason and who only wich to "snuff you out", it may be necessairy to use deadly force in protection of your life. This right doesn't dissapear if you happen to be black. It might have been better had the man floored the gas pedal and driven off, but his actions were -IMHO- perfectly justified!
(Besides, I hink they'd blocked the path of his truck, he couldn't just take off.)

What if he had taken off?
Somebody who is clearly bent on beating you to dead, or at least seriously damaging your physical integrity and likely permanently messing you up, won't just give up. They'll find another victim, another easy prey who this time round may very well be unarmed and at the mercy of the now ever more infuriated thugs.

They would have gotten to somebody else, but a law-abiding citizen, who has the law on his side, prevented them from doing that.
The surviving thug may be off to prison for 15 years, good riddance. He's going to be very popular once the prison population finds out what he did to end up there.

Congratulations Sebastian!

Sebastian finally got a permit to conceal and carry a weapon on his person!

May you never need it.

the need for CCW, illustrated

Gun control proponent often argue against self defence as well as against the right to defensive weapons.
"Just give them what they want" they say.
What if what your assailant want, is to beat the living daylights out of you and possibly kill you, because you are born with a skin color they don't like?

I applaud Hygens Labidou, a man "of color" who is the legal holder of a permit that allows him to carry a concealed weapon, for protecting his life. When two men armed with a lethal weapon approached him in his car, yelled racial slurs and tried to pull him out of his vehicle, he felt threatened and responded by opening fire with his defensive handgun.

One attacker died, the other will stand trial for his crimes as well as the death of his fellow thug, under the statute of hate crime.

Remember how badly the Brady campaign opposed Floridas concealed carry law? How they were screaming about the gunshine state when the right to retreat was repealed? I suppose they'd rather have this man, owner of a small bussiness and (judging by the fact that he has a CCW card) a law abiding citizen, to have been lynched? They'd rather seen him "snuffed out"?

I like what I see: Two violent, racist criminals removed from society. Mr Hygens probably wished all of this had never happened, but the production f an event like this is not within our abilities. Taking action to survive it, should be!

Empty holster week has started!

Across the nation, students will be voicing their opinion for allowing the licensed carry of a concealed weapon on campus for self defense-purposes. They will do so by having an empty gun holster visible on their person.

This would be a great opportunity to buy a nice retention holster, or practice your arts and craft skills by making one yourself!
