golf club accident leaves 7 y/o dead.

It's a scene from cartoons and comics, one person swings an object such as a baseball bat, a wooden beam or plank, and accidentally hits somebody over the head with it.

Well, it happened with a golf club recently, and the person struck was a seven year old child. The boy did not survive the incident.

The video of that girl handling a rifle sparked outrage in some, provoking comments such as "she should be doing girly stuff". Well, accidents can happen everywhere, and some sports are more dangerous than others.
Kids die in accidental shootings too, but at a far lower rate. That girl doing fire drills, she's probably safer off than the other girl in cheerleading.

Think about that.

Current events in the UK: the list.

I'll pass on reciting the countless acts of violent crime this week. They just keep coming and coming without end, check for yourself.

What I'd like to share with you this week is the list ... the list of 25 teenage fatalities, victims of Londons violent criminals. 25 ... at last count.

Two of them were shot to death. Only two, or ... oh my god there were two of them?
Only two, as if to mean that guns are available after all and ever so deadly as compared to knives or other sharp objects which were used to kill ... well pretty much everybody else.
Oh my god two, if you honestly believe that strict gun control prevents gun crime.

One of these kids was killed with a shard of broken glass for crying out loud, how are you going to gt rid of their weapons? How are you going to prevent them from ganging up on their victims and beating them to death? By making it illegal ... even more so?

Twenty five and counting.
Who still remembers when the time to act was passed by?

Current events in the UK

A body was recovered, the victim presumably died from injuries to the neck and face. A man died of undisclosed injuries after being attacked, yet another person is in critical condition following an assault ...

So when I was going through my blogroll this morning, I spotted a true gem over at sharp as a marble. Where he spots a news article with something interesting to say:

  • Guns are always available and stemming the flow of weapons remains an almost impossible task.

Some people knew this before, some have been saying so all along. Some people have been in denial for some time now. I'd say others have known but keep denying it because of ulterior motives.

Point to proof, a man used a handgun to try and rob a bank just now.

This weeks knife crime alone is enough to fill a blog. One kid was stabbed to death after a party, don't conuse him with the OTHER kid that was stabbed at a party and died. Q:Did you hear about that kid that got stabbed to death at the party - A:Which one?

Two men were stabbed, one died in what is called "not a random attack". Earlier, yet another teen was stabbed to death in London.

If anybody was wondering, arsonists *do* still kill people, large amounts of illegal drugs are still being confiscated and few people bat an eye at either.

Current events in the UK

Welcome once again to the gun debate critic on sunday, current events in the UK.

It's been a rather shocking week, as a heavely pregnant woman was attacked in her home! She was bludgeoned over the head and seriousky injured. Fortunately, her child was allright, doctors induced labour and brought the baby healthy to this oft horrible place. In response, police are stepping up their activities in the neighbourhood. I applaud their efforts, but I also regret that they can only do so after the facts. That's not the polices fault, that's just the way it is I'm afraid.

The twenty third teenager has been killed in Londen, a 17 year old was killed with a single stab of a knife. The same day another teen was killed in an unrelated incident. Knife attacks are no reason for city officials to consider their city dangerous it would seem ... "sure, a woman was stabbed, but this place is perfectly safe otherwise, I swear!". Perhaps she's lucky ... another woman was raped at knifepoint by multiple attackers.

To illustrate the administrations failure at keeping guns out of the hands of kids, a 13 year old was found in posession of a handgun, ammunition and sound supressors. The gun may be a Makarov Baikal-442, which may very well have been procured in eastern Europe and smuggeled into the UK.
In a display of justice after the horrendous fact, a young drug dealer was sentenced after shooting three people dead with a semi-automatic mac-10, and then stabbing two people after that. He regrets ... running out of ammunition.

And once again, a petrol bomb was used to attack an inhabited construction, the house of a law enforcement official.

Banning guns, not quite working great if you ask me.

Current events in the UK

Welcome again to the gun debate critic on sunday, current events in the UK.

Starting off with a hint of mystery as often before, two people were found dead with serious head injuries, cause unknown or otherwise undisclosed at the moment.

I'm glad to see justice come down hard on the 16 year old killer of a fourteen year old boy, stabbed him to dead him for giving the other "a dirty look". Mind that a life sentence hardly ever means spending life in prison on this side of the ocean. If anything, maybe these harsh punishments will turn youngsters away from violent crime ... if only:

A small gang of "Brady Children" attacked a middle aged man, who survived but needed medical attention for a skull fracture. Do think of the children!

There have always been some who tought criminals would simply pick on easier targets with guns unavailable to the law abiding, an example of this can be found in this incident, where a woman was assaulted and robbed by an unarmed attacker. The victim ended up in the hospital. Another woman was robbed at knifepont.

Others predicted that criminals would simply switch to other weapons, this has again been confirmed as a band of criminals carried out a robbery armed with a hammer and a stun gun. Another pair of criminals carried out half a dozen of robberies with a large kitchen knife and a metal bar amongst their weapons. And yet another group of criminals used a machete and knives to attempt a robbery during which they stabbed a security guard in the ass.
I suppose some will be glad to see criminals moving away from guns I suppose ... ah wait:

An apparently random shooting proves that guns are still available to the criminal element in the UK, a spent shell would indicate that the gun used was a semi-automatic firearm. Another shooting brought the teenage death-count in Londen up to 22, with many more dead outside of the capitol.

One of the responses to these dozens of dead children has been to crack down on knife posession, continued actions remain a way to put people behind bars. One arrest per hour was the average of an action in Essex, though 75% of those arrested were arrested for drug crimes. One might dispute the effects, three teenagers were hospitalized for stab wounds yesterday, as well as a man in his twenties.

Once again, fire fighters have come under attack by youths, this along with the recent "spate" of firebombings may prove to be a great danger in the long run. But it need not all be firebombings and molotov coctails, dousing somebody in gasoline and setting him on fire isn't unheard of either.

"My son got bombed"

The words of a mother whose son was hit with a piece of shrapnel from a home-made explosive device. A neighbour tried to build a pyrotechnic device (a fountain if I get this correctly), unfortunately the middle aged man is a complete idiot who doesn't know the first thing about pyrotechnics safety ...

A metal casing ... what was he thinking ... no, he wasn't thinking!
Uhng, this really gets to me, I can only feel horribly sorry for the kid and his familly.

Now, as for the ability of people to manufacture explosive devices "like IED's straight out of Iraq", I've said it before and I'll say it again: the internet is full of information, some of which is accurate. Can you imagine the damage one could do if he had bad intentions and the ability to learn?

another fatality that doesn't count?

A man was beaten to death by three teenagers. According to some, it is "swapping" if I dare to say that this poor woman is as dead as if she had been shot. Today I'll step further.

The victim endured a long and painfull attack by a gang of attackers before suffering some more in a hospital bed. I do dare venture to say that being shot in the head would be considerably less horrific.
Then again, since she was not "murdered by a gun" her death will not be considered a tragedy (or rather, a fundraiser occasion) ad this is all supposed to make us feel better?

A rose by any other name, death by any other cause ... the flower blooms as beautiful on the grave dug just as deep.

Current events in the UK (updated)

Welcome back to the gun debate critic on sunday with this weeks events in the UK.

Starting off with this weeks teenage victims of violence
  1. A young woman was found murdered in what apperas to be an isolated event. The manner of her death is yet to be determined.
  2. A sixteen year old boy was stabbed downtown, he himself will likely survive and his assailant is in custody.
  3. A thirteen year old boy was beaten in a robbery, but is doing alright.
Northern Ireland authorities are planning to be even more severe in the face of knife crime, having all but doubled the penalty for carrying a knife.

After last sundays post, two men were stabbed at a music festival. While one will survive his woulds described as "horrific", the other one has passed away at the hands of an attacker who is yet to be found. Another man was stabbed and seriously injured along with a girl who suffered minor injuries. A man was shot to death in Dublin, the second shooting fatality in 24 hours.
Showing that robbers don't restrict themselves to guns and knives, four men armed with sledgehammers carried out a brutal robbery of a jewellers.

Now for some good news! The elderly man who confronted a gang of louts (obnoxious, anti-social scum for y'all yanks) has been cleared of charges by a jury of his peers

Gang attacks child with spraypaint.

A six year old witness to graffiti vandalism was attacked by gang members who sprayed him in the face with their paint, buring the childs eyes.
One of the believed attackers 15 year old who I can only assume is an honor roll student at his local highschool is currently in custody and is being charged with assault with a caustic chemical, kidnapping and felony vandalism.

What plaegues the inner cities is thug culture it is causing a lot of people to be unwilling to talk to either press or police. It is a real and serious issue that juvenile gang members are perfectly willing to commit these heinous acts, it is an issue that we need to deal with!

Oh, be prepared to hear Jack Thompson claim this is all because of the graffiti in GTA: San Andreas.

Current events in the UK

For the first time, I've started writing this a few days in advance, it is thursday now and I'll
be adding onto this post untill it is scheduled for release on sunday.

Another kid was stabbed to death, David Idowu was only 14. This year and just in Londen, 19 teenagers have been killed as of thursday, the majority (14 out of 19) of them stabbed to death. The police is coming down hard on knife crime though, arresting 1437 people in seven weeks and confiscating 731 knives. Teenagers are getting involved with crime in an increasing frequency, as seen here: a teenage girl is being charged with some serious offences such as robbery and assaulting police personnel.

On Friday, it was reported that four people had been stabbed to death in London, and there had been two more knife murders in England (1,2) Another teenager was repeadedly stabbed, but is now in stable condition. Martin Dinnega (14) was stabbed to death because he gave someone a dirty look ... this friday night we counted seven fatalities in under 24 hours! Gordon Brown intends to come down even harder on knife crime, hoping to increase the successes that are being made these days. Shortly after, two more kids got stabbed in an assault.

It's not all kids who die, as this case clearly shows, one adult killing another in an unknown fashion. Then there's this story of a man in his 20's or 30's getting stabbed to death, and this one of two men killing a middle aged woman ... knife criminals kill in all layers of society.

Not just knife crime however, a woman was charged with wounding with intent after she set somebody on fire! Another woman killed a 33 year old man, no method listed in this article. A man was attacked with "blunt and bladed" weapons, he was injured but survived the attack. A petrol bomb was used to attack a pub in Northern Ireland and a man was gunned down in England.

On this page, which must have eluded me last sunday, you can read about multiple robberies and another case of arson. Do notice the case where a pizza courriers was attacked and injured by a gang of criminals, he was cut in his arm. Such courriers are favourable targets for criminals in the USA as well, and many are staunch supporters of CCW right.

Current events in the UK

It's been two weeks since I last wrote this "column" ... it's not gotten any better.

Even CNN released a video of the latest child victim of knife crime, a 16 year old boy stabbed to death. A young man was stabbed and remains in critical condition, security guards were attacked, stabbed and cut as they tried to chase down suspected shoplifters. Another man, 19 years of age, was attacked and presumably stabbed, he too is in critical condition.
There's been multiple robberies by criminals armed with knives, two are reported here, at least one person was injured. One would think that serious punishments such as this one (over 11 years in jail) would serve as a deterrent. If not, perchance we could re-introduce the chance of being shot during the comission of a crime?

Moving out of the realm of knives and other sharp objects: there's been an arson attack against a bussiness, fortunately, nobody was injured. Another arson attack targeted an inhabited house, two senior citizens were indoors when the attack took place, neither is reported to have been injured. A pipe-bomb exploded, causing serious material damage to a house, fortunately nobody was hurt.

Despite legislation that amounts to an effective ban on firearms, a man was shot earlier today, injured in the stomach, he'll most likely live.
A seventeen year old girl was repeadedly raped by three men.

Police are continuing to wage war on drugs, arresting multiple dealers in targeted raids. I do hope they manage to keep up their successes, they generally don't leave any inoccents dead and do manage to haul back a lot of contraband, unfortunately that's not enough ... it's never enough ...

Man beats child to death.

I'm kind of stumped for a post today, so I'll just link you to yet another example of the horrific beings some humans are. (old story, new devellopments)

A man was beating, kicking and tossing about his infant son. People stopped to see what was going on, tried to stop him, but they failed in their effort and the child died.
If only somebody had had a taser, or another effective weapon with them that thy, so they could have stopped this monster.

Pniewska's killer sentenced to life (20 years)

Takes me back a while: one of the earliest posts I wrote on this blog was about a woman being killed as (three?) criminals were shooting at eachother in what is now being called a "wild west shootout".

While one (or more) of these animals still walks around a free man most likely (to be honest, chances are he got stabbed to death somewhere along the way), one of them has been apprehended and brought to justice:
Armel Gnango, now 18, well have to serve no less than 20 years in prison. There were other sentences as well, 12 and five years, but those will run concurrently.

Even though Gango did not fire the bullet that killed this woman (as confirmed by ballistics) he is being held responsible, as he was involved in the gunfight that eventually would leed to the death of this innocent person.

It's only a third of a full serving of justice, as by the courts reasoning, there are still two other people out there who are (at least) as responsible. At least one of them is off the streets now ...

Good show, a show that must and (unfortunately, in another respect) probably will go on.

Another child victim of gun violence.

Once again, another poor, teenage child has fallen victim to the horrible scourge of gun violence that plaeges the nation.
One Alfredo Cruz was gunned down by his drug dealer when he came up short in paying his tab ... wait, what?

Said dealer was a 16 year old, who can not legally purchase or even possess a gun out in the state of Florida.
So, illegal posession of a firearm, trafficking narcotics, posession with intent to sell ... manslaughter or murder?

The laws we have on the book right now are not preventing these matters, both the gun related crimes ans well as the drug-related ones. Coming down harder and harder as previous efforts fail miserably has not solved the drug problems ... might I suggest taking a different approach when it comes to guns?

Current events in the UK: anti-stab workshops

Welcome once again to the gun debate critic on sunday, where I get you up to speed on recent devellopments in the United kingdom.

Starting off once again with a hint of mystery: a dead body was found wrapped in garbage bags, while it's still unclear how the 50 y/o man died, police are considering it a suspicious death.
In a stellar display of police work, officers arrested the man who stabbed a woman to death, as he walked into a police precinct. Another stabbing took place in an antique shop, leaving a middle-aged woman injured.

In a rather gruesome crime, a woman was raped in a city center, the police are trying to locate the two people who helped her after the attack
A few firearms incidents as well. Two were injured by shotgun fire and a car was shot at by masked gunmen. A senior citizen was murdered, and a man tried to kill another person by setting him on fire!

There's been a considerable toll on young lives this week, a child was seriously injured in the face following an assault, two kids aged 10 and 12 were stabbed by a 15 year old during a botched robbery. A 14 y/o schoolgirl was attacked by another girl (17/18? age unknown) after she had been followed home.

Capitalizing on this trend of children getting stabbed and sometimes killed, some are offering "anti stab workshops", self defence classes honed to teach children to prevent being stabbed. Their curriculum is said to include time tested strategies such as: "Give them what they want" and "run away", as well as "wet yourself, curl up into a ball and plea for mercy as an attacker twice you age and size catches up with you"

Child lies to get INTO prison.

  • "He wanted to go to jail or go to prison to show everyone how bad he was"

So ... thug culture anyone?
Now now, don't give me that look! He's just a poor, misunderstood teenager trying t fit in under peer pressure. Don't worry, I'm sure he'll turn out just fine, I'm as sure of that as I'm sure you notice the intended sarcasm.

5 children, 40 felonies and counting.

Those five poor, underprivileged inner city children, who have beaten an old man to death, have been sentenced to a combined 40 felonies, one of them still has a later court date.

What was all of that, of how it is guns that allow young kids to do horrible things?

The older ones are looking at life in prison ... at 15, that's going to be some serious hard time. The younger ones, two "children" aged 13, are facing 12 years at most. I find age to be a very artificial border, it just seems strange to me that being born 600 days earlier would be the difference between juvie and life in prison.

Gun control puts gun in hands of 15 year old

Came across this over at marilyns ...

Once upon a time, criminals would buy a gun, use it for their evil deeds, and get rid of it ... junkers were cheap and plentiful, and easy to get, probably why they accounted for roughly 46% of the guns traced by the ATF in 1994.

  • "In the 1980s and early 1990s, they were throwing those guns in the river. But they aren't doing that anymore,"
Indeed, 14 years later , guns are treated differently:

  • "...gangs across the country stash and share weapons, often in abandoned buildings, in an attempt to circumvent gun control laws..."
So, gun control laws are causing gangs to stash guns rather than get rid of them? What exactly has that resulted in then? Recently, a 10 year old girl was shot to death by a 15 y/o wielding a "neighbourhood gun".
'course it's a neighbourhood, not a gang territory or turf, and the 15 year old who shot the little girl was an "average, normal kid", not a juvenile gang member ... though he did know in which garbage bag to pick up a gun.

Think of the children much?
Gun control -as is- is not working!

Man stomping toddler shot.

Several people tried to stop a man from beating, kicking and stomping on a toddler. The unarmed people failed, then somebody with a gun interveened and put and end to the onslaught. Maybe if the first responders had also had effective weapons, or just one, the child would have survived it.

Some people like to tell tales of the child victims of guns ... do they ever stop to think of the victims of unarled attackers who could have easely been stopped by an armed citizen?
The police officer who stopped the attack did his job to the best of his abilities, but policemen aren't always around, and it doesn't take long to lose your life if you're only 2 years old ...

They should not be the only ones ...

Friday, June 13, 2008

Just give them what they want and they'll only kill the witnesses.

Two little kids, brothers aged 15 and 13 walked in on an armed robbery in progress. Can you blame them that when the criminals, wielding guns, yelled at them to get down, they got scared and ran away?
They were shot at, the older brother was killed ... a real, innocent child victim of violent gun crime

If you want you can read the story for yourself here.

I don't know what those kids should have done, I really don't. It wouldn't surprise me if some of those robbers were in fact prohibited from woning guns, or even if they were out on parole, and if they get caught, they should be trown in a labor camp untill they expire in my opinion ...

I do know what to tell the next person that tells me to "run away" when confronted by an armed attacker.
